A 94-year-old Jewish human rights barrister was among more than 80 people arrested outside the Labour Party conference in Liverpool while demonstrating in support of Palestine Action. The arrests came as Ed Miliband told critics of the government’s policy on Palestine: “We hear you. You were right"

Well, I for one am an economist who supports rent controls! Here’s why 🧵: Markets only work well if: -buyers & sellers have roughly equal power -producers respond to price signals & expand supply in response to scarcity -buyers can walk away if prices get too high

So Hasan Piker is banned from entering the country, but someone with a track record of stoking violence is welcomed with open arms? It is utterly disgraceful that London is opening its doors to the leader of an organisation with such a disturbing record of far-right violence.
Dear Sadiq Khan,
Concerns regarding London visit of Mohan Bhagwat, leader of the Hindu nationalist
paramilitary organisation, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS)
I am writing because a number of concerned constituents have contacted me regarding the
current visit to London by Mohan Bhagwat, the leader of the Hindu nationalist paramilitary
organisation, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). [1]
The organisation has sought to promote a racist and exclusive form of ethnic and linguistic
nationalism in India, reinforcing the divisive ideology of Hindutva and advancing a broader
fascist political project. The Hindu nationalist organisation has also played a significant role
in propelling Indian Prime Minister Marendra Modi to power.
The RSS has a track record of stoking violence against minority communities, including
India’s Muslim, Christian and Sikh populations. [2] In recent years, Hindu nationalist groups
within the wider RSS network have been linked to attacks on Muslims, including mob
violence and killings over allegations of cow slaughter or beef consumption, as well as
attacks on Christians falsely accused of carrying out religious conversions. [3] [4]
In 2024, Human Rights Watch documented the murder of a Muslim worker in Haryana by
Hindu vigilantes and attacks by Hindu mobs on Christian communities and prayer gatherings
in several states. [5]
It is utterly disgraceful that London is opening its doors to the leader of an organisation with
such a disturbing record of far-right violence, intolerance and discrimination. An
organisation that has undermined religious freedom and contributed to a climate of hatred
and attacks against minorities should never be given a platform in our city. The fact that this visit has been allowed to proceed is absolutely appalling and should
outrage anyone who believes that every community deserves to live free from persecution
and fear.
Given these concerns, and considering the responsibilities that fall within your remit as
Mayor, campaign groups and human rights organisations are seeking urgent clarification on
the following five questions:
1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Will you confirm that no Mayoral, Deputy Mayoral, GLA, or MOPAC representative
will attend, speak at, or send a message of support to any event connected with this
visit?
Will you confirm that no GLA-owned or GLA-controlled venue or land is being made
available for it?
Will you write to the Home Secretary asking what assessment has been made of this
visit against the Home Office’s unacceptable behaviours criteria for exclusion, and
against the commitment in Protecting What Matters to prevent extremists entering
the UK?
Will you ask MOPAC and the Metropolitan Police to consider community safety
around the visit for the London communities the RSS and its affiliates target,
including Muslim, Sikh, and Dalit Londoners?
Will you make a public statement setting out London’s position on this visit?
Yours sincerely,
Benali Hamdache
Green Party Member of the London Assembly

Manchester Evening News review of the first Mayor debate is in - and Geraldine Coggins, Green Party candidate has the highest score! 💚🎉 Labour has let down Greater Manchester. It's time for a Green Mayor.
Coggins was a confident voice on the panel and was clearly popular with the audience and at ease. Her framing of the debate was consistent throughout. Labour has let down Greater Manchester overall while building up the city centre with economic deals that have not benefited the wider city region. Her argument that it was time for a change from Labour will have resonated with some of the left leaning audience members.

A stunt to con the public as Nigel Farage tries to avoid scrutiny overs his dodgy donations. He has never been a man of the people, but a representative of the wealthy and the establishment.
A quote graphic from Zack Polanski that reads:

Nigel Farage is once again trying to con the public with this stunt - trying to duck the fact that his history of taking dodgy donations is finally catching up with him.

This is not Nigel Farage vs the establishment, but the establishment's man against truth, honesty and decency.
