Eric, I really wish you would stop papering all these things. It's really dangerous and not helpful to you or me while you could simply just call me on signal.

In January 2025, weeks after her nomination, she complained that Deters had told a producer on her podcast about their deal.
"It's unbelievable when we have a private arrangement with you that you would now
CC a producer talking about money," she said. "Do not say we have any arrangement."

You're not "taking over the party" and rendering the CBC obsolete if you need Obama and Harris to act as your closers and drag you over the finish line.

My pat, just-so read, is that a whole bunch of the electorate thought Trump was going to let them in on his con, and only now starting to realize they were the mark.

For all the haranguing over Lucy and footballs, it's enormously exasperating to see people expecting Mitch McConnell, of all people, to earnestly whip a conviction for the one man who's id binds together the constellation of right-wing freaks, nationwide.

Senate Republicans were never going to convict Donald Trump because they (correctly) understand the Trump Presidency as their key to power.

putting your arms akimbo and angrily broadcasting "Why should *I* be held responsible for my actions?" is not, actually, a very well formed political philosophy.

you are not allowed to be nostalgic for this decade, I was there and it sucked.
collage of images that I made in early 2020, titled "decade literally no one is nostalgic for", featuring images of primitive smartphones, Justin Beiber, Twilight, Myspace, AOL, Foreclosed Homes, Brokencyde, PT Cruisers with Fake Wood, George W Bush, Crazy Frog, and $4+/gallon gas, which as the time I made this only existed in memories of 2008.

a classic in the genre:
A YouGov and Washington Post survey analyzing nostalgia across 20 different measures, a person's age is the primary factor in determining when they believe society or culture was at its best.

Nostalgia for the "best music," movies, and television sharply spikes around age 14 to 15, right when individuals are going through their formative teenage years.

Measures like "the most close-knit communities" or "the least political division" peak much earlier or flatten out, but personal cultural tastes show the steepest peaks during youth.

Key takeaway is that data analysts note that people romanticize the era when they had fewer adult responsibilities, more freedom, and fewer worries.

It's also just really shows how perception of "ability" is still heavily skewed towards larger houses. "You can't raise a family in a house less than 2k sqft!" "You can't raise a family without a yard!" "You can't host a dinner with friends without a dining room!" People do, and will.

Money quote:
Text: It's ironic that so much of this media infrastructure is built around the idea of knowing cynicism, of savviness, because it's actually so cynical to the point of inducing naïveté to suggest that if you scream loudly enough on social media, someone somewhere will somehow help you. That's just not how it works. It's inducing people to shirk the hard work of politics.
