On Tuesday, an ICE officer shot and killed Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in Houston. Today, the government is pressuring the only three eyewitnesses to sign self-deportation orders. I spent 15 years as a public defender. If anyone else did this, we'd call it witness tampering. youtube.com/shorts/-1mtg...

The "creatives" who use genAI at any part of their process need to understand I'm not desperate for new media. There is such a backlog of arts, movies, books, and games WITHOUT genAI that if nothing new was made again, I'd still need a hundred lifetimes to consume even a fraction of it.

Great reflection on USA at 250. There’s a big omission of Indigenous communities in the historical sketch, which I think even helps makes this point more forcefully.

In X-Men #15 there’s a line where Prof. X says to Angel, “It’s ok, Angel. You’re not made of asbestos.” I feel like there’s something historical in the understanding of asbestos that i’m not following there.

this panel rings so strangely in 2026.
A panel from X-Men #15 showing Charles Xavier speaking in a tv and a crowd of people watching.

Xavier: No one knows what causes mutations! Your own children may be mutants! You must not let rumor, ignorance, or unreasoning fear stampede you!

Bystander 1: He’s got some nerve! No kid of mine is a mutie!

Bystander 2: And where does he get off, callin’ us ignorant?!!

Bystander 3: I never even heard of him! I’ll bet he’s a communist!

Bystander 4: Nah! He looks more like one of them right-wingers to me!

This poem by Dan Albergotti feels like a manual, a self-help guide A metaphor for what it feels like to be trapped Rather than an escape plan it focuses on how the mind adapts to the situation by creating routine inside chaos, by trying to make sense of the extraordinary #poetry #poemoftheday

This. The whole situation is very messy. D&Q is making it so much worse (what was that statement? seriously). This whole thing smacks of a publisher not doing the work to support their artist. If they didn’t want to support the work that needed done, they shouldn’t have published the book.

This is shameful and dangerous behavior on the part UCF. I am so disappointed as a former faculty member. With the move toward more digital spaces there, it’s hard not to imagine a correlation—and all of this after student booed the commencement speaker who brought up AI.

Lynda Barry did not squeeze your heart and simultaneously explain the point of all art with the barest of line drawings so you could tell me that AI is "inevitable."
HOW TO LOOK AT ART by Lynda Barry

In the first panel, a dog-headed woman, a mother, looks at a painting in the "Madonna with Baby Jesus" vein. A small blobby child is standing next to her.

Mother: IM NOT SURE HOW TO LOOK AT ART.
Child: WHATS SPOSTA HAPPEN?

In the second panel the dog-headed mother holds up her hands (paws?) trying to explain to the child.

Mother: SOMETHING BIG. A REVELATION.
SUDDENLY YOU JUST UNDERSTAND.

In the third panel dog-headed mother goes back to looking at the painting. The child holds up their arms to be lifted.

Mother: NOT SURE HOW TO MAKE IT HAPPEN
Child: HOW BOUT LIFT ME UP SO I CAN SEE BETTER

In the last panel, the dog-headed mother is holding the child, their position mirrored by the Madonna and baby Jesus in the painting.
