I'm thrilled to share my first foray into nature writing. I describe my travels through Aotearoa New Zealand to see the country's rarest birds—and use this as a vehicle to tell the stories of the islands' evolutionary history and the bold conservation efforts that saved these creatures. Gift link

I've been shocked by a lot of what's happened to our science system over the last three years but banning puns in proposal titles is a new low, surely.
Screencap of a section from MBIE's 'Programmes Proposal Template – 2027 Transition Research Fund' specifying that titles of proposals may not include acronyms, abbreviations, 'humorous "tabloid" style titles', or puns.

Hooray, a source link. Some context: - Bot traffic from the whole of the Russian Federation is basically unchanged. - The specific AS13238 YANDEX — Yandex LLC source is mostly web scraping search engine indexing. - People's jokes about influence campaign effects are being read as factual statements
All Russian bots. They are still out there.

Yep , this is my main reason to not adopt AI workflows: I’m lazy! I know that anything that suggests a shortcut I am likely to use and am not certain at all whether I’ll have the fortitude to prevent that laziness kicking in.

library(ggview)
ggplot(mtcars, aes(wt, mpg)) +

Pretty sure they said the span was over 11m which would be plenty of room, even if that was 11m on the angle.
