Wrote a thing on why we should have interactive lists on the web: sarahmhigley.com/writing/inte... If anyone has their own interactive list use cases that aren't covered, send them to me! I'm putting together an ARIA spec PR this month.

A plea to developers: if this gets created, let's not fuck it up. This is a slightly more spec-heavy post than usual, but hopefully still useful.

Baffling how bad startup tech blogs are getting: more of them are AI nonsense. I know because every now and then a marketer emails me, hoping to get coverage. More of then not it's overly verbose, impossible to follow... AI slop. Feels like no one wants to put in the work

1️⃣ the best authors of libraries have 'felt the pain' and are making it better 2️⃣ the 'curse of knowledge' means authors (can) become less insightful over time 3️⃣ a lack of domain expertise IS something you have to offer ... so, contribute to address a pain you have 🙏 roe.dev/ama #ama
i use a oss libs all the time for work and personal projects. i’ve always wanted to contribute to these tools to understand them better, and along the way also maybe prove to myself i’m not an impostor lol

all advice tends towards “contribute to address a pain you have” but this is really tough for me since I am of the belief that the authors know best. they’re the domain experts. why should i go against their design. you know? this predisposition i feel restricts me from being able to confidently contribute to tools.

do you think there still is a place for me somewhere? is this long? i really hope not oops. Text on a grainy yellow-to-fuchsia-to-blue gradient.

Monet's water lily garden in Giverny is an ever-changing and ever-renewing source of inspiration for me. In this painting, I wanted to capture the feeling of water lilies floating on the surface of a still pond, filled with reflections of the clouds. I applied thick brushstrokes of oil paint laid side by side without layering to capture the sense of movement and texture in the scene.
