I now have a grocery that is 15 minutes from my house by bicycle. And not only are there dedicated bike lanes off of the main road, there are dedicated spots to lock up one's bike. I am extremely happy about this.

Interesting revision on a statement from Premier Danielle Smith on Alberta Day. The first version made direct reference to Indigenous people. An updated version was sent out removing the Indigenous acknowledgment, and replacing with recognition of Alberta energy and refenced "many backgrounds."

I love bike lanes. I love them when I ride my bike. But I also love them when I drive my car; they reduce my stress as a driver, and make the automobile traffic flow more smoothly. (Proper divided lanes are best - sharrows worse than useless.)

Be sure to use Al when making your next, I don't know, meal plan, for example. Definitely do not call your friend who loves to cook and ask her for her favorite recipes or tips or ways to save time making meals, because you will end
up talking for longer than you had hoped, hearing, perhaps, about her father's cancer diagnosis or how lonely she's been or even what she's planted in her spring garden and then lost with the early frost.

This graph shows two things, 1) obviously that the cameras reduced speeding, but 2) that the improvement kept getting better over time. Speeders tend to get one or two tickets and then learn and change their behaviour. This isn't a cash grab, it's an extremely useful intervention.

Gas tax breaks are bandaids at best. Real solution is to help low & middle-income Cdns get off fossil fuels. Invest in solar, heat pumps, batteries, EVs. Tackle barriers, offer real incentives & fund w/ windfall tax on Big Oil (who are laughing all the way to the bank). Cleaner, cheaper, healthier.
