The truck looks fantastic and I do think US vehicles should be simpler, cheaper, and smaller- but a non-unionized auto manufacturer in Michigan is super disappointing. The truck frankly won’t be as well-made. Maybe the showroom will get picketed.

Watching university police conspire with state police thugs to teargas/beat people on a beautiful spring campus day really hit home that police should not be around college kids and a college campus. Including campus cops. (I don’t think police belong anywhere but that’s not the attempted point)

There's been a lot of talk about the DA's prosecutorial failure in the Cornell rape case but I haven't seen much about this. Cornell police edited out key info when they passed on Jane Doe's statement, omitting her use of the word "rape." The head of Cornell PD is now top brass at Ithica PD.

ICE has abducted Senegalese WBB player Aminata Seck and won't release her. DHS 'policy' is to provide medical care to prisoners at intake, yet they admit to denying her care for an ACL injury for 1.5 months. The NCAA is letting it happen, despite its predatory recruitment of ICAs. We explain.

Aminata Seck’s detention shows the bargain facing international college athletes: universities eagerly recruit them, but support can disappear when their immigration status becomes precarious.

I didn’t press them and try to convince them that I was going to make some profound difference. I wasn’t sure myself. I only hope that it was made clear that [an encampment cleaning] is not an insurmountable natural disaster. They are human beings working mundane jobs for the city who have become apathetic and dispassionate over time, and who need to be reminded that carelessness, neglect, and shortcuts in their line of work are a material act of violence on the residents of encampments. I know [the workers] were annoyed and inconvenienced by my presence. I only hope that later they asked themselves why someone who isn’t being paid would choose to spend their day at a homeless encampment filming the city doing a routine encampment sweep.
