I don't know if the best strategy is to refuse to honour all U.S. sanctions, or to put them through some sort of sanity-check to drop obviously politically motivated bad-faith sanctions like the ones the U.S. is imposing on ICC judges, but the status quo is untenable.

This isn't a good thing; China is still an autocracy. But it's understandable. China is more or less predictable, while the U.S. is a chaotic proto-autocracy, randomly imposing tariffs of questionable legality on democratic allies based on the shifting whims of a wannabe dictator.

Russian and American teams collaborated to gut any restrictions on AI weapons. Most seriously, both teams opposed requirements to keep humans in the loop on targeting decisions. This isn’t a theoretical concern; over-reliance on AI was a factor in the deadly U.S. strike on an Iranian girls school.
