The end of the deathly heat put me in the mood to take my camera out today.
The silhouette of a varied tit perched on the lens of a very large camera lens, looking down past the end.

Are we losing the sacred knowledge? Every day now, I see comics where word balloons are just in the wrong order for a single panel. There's an answer in the lower left and the question in the upper right. Check your reading flow. The eye moves left to right, up to down.

I think a certain generation has primarily learned to read (and thus write) from translated manga. I see certain trends that hint at it this in writing, too. Weird voice and sentence structure that great like amateur translation, but written originally in English.

So, in a couple of weeks (Saturday the 17th, 16:00 BST) I’m going to be showing an incomplete verbatim theatre script as a work in progress. I could use some more faces in the online audience.

I am rereading a translation I finished months ago for the editing round, and... I think I did a pretty darned good job on this one. I'm looking forward to next April, when it comes out. I hope it gets traction and people read it. I think it could be big, with the right promotion.

I told my wife, if she ever wanted to kill me then poisoned chocolate almonds are the way. I could watch her poison them, she could say "Do not eat these, they are poisoned," and I would still die, my hand in the jar, a smile on my face. She said, "No need for that. Not yet."

I am so addicted to chocolate covered almonds that if they are in the house, I eat them without conscious thought. I go into a fugue state and devour them. This morning I was driving my son to school and suddenly thought, "Why does my mouth taste like chocolate?" and recalled, I had eaten a handful.

Hm. Could be a few things, but I'm not sure how your documents are formatted. Or how it's possible for punctuation to "break." Are you using a fully compatible font (Arial, TNR, etc rather than a native LO font like Liberation)? Half-width punctuation? Smart quotes vs straight?

Yeeeesss. I've turned in four (five?) manuscripts to publishers in docx format and gone through several rounds of edits (w/ track changes, comments, etc) using LibreOffice with not a complaint from the editors. They might not have even known? Not a single glance back at Office.
