Help me!!! I've had the That's Life Theme tune loudly on repeat in my head for the last 24 hrs! Suspect it's a stress response linked to a freelance work deadline of 9am tomorrow. God I hope it's that because at least there's a cutoff point. 🤞🤞🤞Make it stop! 🔇🙉

When I was little I had a fear of clocks and time and theme tunes that signified it was late /bedtime such as That's Life. Feeling a wave of existential unease at the news about Esther Rantzen. Let's enjoy ourselves my Gen X friends, it's later than we think. Oof. 🕛

What I love about the Met Office is its propensity to be consistently utterly wrong about absolutely everything all of the time. Love 'em.

After turning 51 earlier this month I can confirm that today was the day I finally aged out of getting help from the lads at the tip. Luckily I got help from a fellow conifer clipper in a show of sore-armed solidarity. Armed with an array of kettlebells, I've now entered my badass crone season.

Looking for a way to reimagine the way I dress in winter, since part of why I hate the season is feeling constricted by being bundled up in layers of synthetic clothing. It's a sensory nightmare. There MUST be a way to enjoy this time. Wishing away half of each and every year of my life seems crazy.

It's great to see tailoring accommodate such extreme movement today. This level of tailoring was a bit more common in the past, as you can see in old films featuring Fred Astaire or Gene Kelly, but many modern suits will lift off the wearer's neck even when they're just walking.

Guess who ended up studying dance at degree level and getting paid to teach it in Scottish & Newcastle's top-taking nightclub, riddle me that Lisa?! Oh you now have a PhD and travel the world with your glamorous, well balanced and impossibly photogenic family? Ah well.

Bizarre things that happened in your assembly: I convinced my primary school teacher that I could dance, purely because I got some brilliant silver shoes and she let me do an enthusiastic improvised display of my 'skills' in assembly alongside beautiful Lisa Riccalton who actually did ballet lessons

Ahh, Autumn Equinox. And so my watch begins until March when the daylight hours reign once more. Spent yesterday working in the glorious sunshine. The light months certainly went out with a bang. Just three months until Winter Solstice and then we are headed in the right direction.

I'm enjoying reacquainting myself with my local library service. Need to call and ask a question? You can get straight through to a human. Need to print a document? Absolutely, no ink subscription required. Get a DVD? Yup. Libraries may well be leading the resistance. Please use them!

Blimey, if the Converse controversy was a genuine oversight then they are going to have to pick a side because an apology just isn't going to cut it. I suspect only a MASSIVE public anti racism campaign would start to pull them out of this hole and that would alienate the other half of US Americans.

Have just seen a promotional editorial for an M&S foodie advent calendar that retails at £100. In my lifetime advent calendars have gone from the flat cardboard affairs with the little pictures behind the windows to these crazy excessive gestures. 'Fun' and 'magic' seem nostalgic concepts now.

My body is beginning its autumn thing where I'm freezing cold, fuzzy headed, and just want to snuggle under my multiple down duvets and weighted blanket eating crap whilst scrolling in between naps. My thermostat is telling me it's 20.5°C, so why does it feel like 13.5°C? 😭 Equinox is on Wednesday.

Despite my best efforts, my elderly mother's diet is now predominantly carbs and she's refusing the protein, vegetables or even vitamin tablets that I try to give her. I've tried different tasty recipes knowing what she used to like, tried softly softly, a more direct approach. Being a carer is hard

Surprised that the Guardian's current most viewed story is one that includes me in the stats. They talk about changing the system to enable carers to continue to work. When? During the hours that we should be sleeping? It's all-encompassing! That's why we quit! www.theguardian.com/society/2026...

Yey! I contacted Berghaus again and they're also going to fix the zip on my favourite hoodie! I swear I'm not sponsored to post this, but with leaving work to care for my parents I'm suddenly a woman of extremely limited means, so can't afford to just buy new stuff. Also great for the environment!

So pleased! I did not know that Berghaus had a 'free repairs for life' policy. Just had an email letting me know that they can fix the sewn -in drawstrings on my 26yr old Gore-Tex hill walking jacket, so I don't need to spend a lot of money that I don't have right now on a new one.

Rock band rehearsal today. I sang lead vocal on Weak (Skunk Anansie). The rush of nailing it and having everyone buzzing and harmonising and stuff made all the years of car and living room vocal exercises totally worthwhile. ⚡

I'm learning so much more about myself since my ADHD diagnosis and realising I've been on a descent to burnout for a while. I have a micro caravan, and being here in the Lakes with my dog is the most healing thing I could possibly do. My nervous system finally stands down and I remember who I am.
A nice cup of tea and lunch from yesterday on a table in the awning of my caravan with the mighty Blencathra peering around the corner of the entrance. The weather is cloudy but not unpleasant. My white fluffy Japanese Spitz boy sitting on the cosy double bed of my caravan looking straight at the camera. There is the word BLISS spelled out in gold wooden letters above the bed with bunting and a rainbow suncatcher because at my heart I'm a massive hippy and need to remember to fly my hippy flag more in real life rather than just in the caravan. The duvet print is green grass (as in lawns, not weed) and there is a blue fluffy blanket with white stars on in it.

I'm in the Lake District. The Met Office genuinely hasn't got a clue about what the weather's going to be like has it? Why do I keep checking? It's been about 80% wrong for the past week. Conducting a séance with Mystic Meg would be just as accurate.

At the back end of wk 2 after leaving my job owing to the worsening burnout of trying to combine caring for my elderly parents with work. Think I'm just beginning to dip out of survival mode because now the exhaustion is beginning to hit. Trying to be gentle with myself as I know it's early days.

Yesterday I treated my parents' patio with sodium hypochlorite to get rid of the black spots and it took so long that it was dark when I finished. My dad just called to tell me how pleased he is. We've had a difficult relationship and didn't speak for 8yrs. His surprising call means the world to me

At the folks house, the news headlines began with a picture of Dolly. Suddenly heard myself pleading 'No! No, no!' One of my go-to songs to perform was 9-5, even sang it at a wedding reception. Loved it. Also loved getting my Moderna COVID vaccine that she invested in. True greatness. Heartbroken.
