Timing matters for learning. However, contingency has long been associated with a narrow view of how learning works. In this special issue, we freed contingency of its Skinnerian roots to examine its role in prediction and social learning across species and timescales. The issue is open access!

Mark Rutte best illustrates what neoliberalism and extreme right authoritarianism have in common: a strong disdain for the rule of law, int. law and human rights; the deeply held conviction that, ultimately, might is right; and the presupposition that 'freedom' merely belongs to white, wealthy men.

Whether the targets of recent assassinations “deserved” their fate is, however, less important than the implication of a shift from legality to morality for the international order. While legal arguments can be rebutted, moral claims about worthiness are less susceptible to meaningful contestation.
