My position on the Joyce Carol Oates discourse is slop should still be written by people. Also I think if I ever write my two-man luge romance, it's gonna blow some minds

get yourself a grump Husband who loves old graveyard
FirefighterKindly349 OP • 14d

Amazing thank you! My grump Husband (who was a coal miner in England starting at age 16. Guess he has reason to be grumpy) loves old graveyard.
So do l! I am going to plan activities for us, stuff I know husband will like (kid is happy if husband is) so l have my first thing which is the graveyard.
Thanks! Any good antique stores? Just to look?

We live in a more and more atomized world as far as music goes too. A lot of people genuinely haven't heard stuff that would be on the radio, they're streaming stuff very tailored to them

I don't even think Choosin Texas is that bad as far as really slick pop country goes but I hated the implication that you're doing something classist if you don't like it or haven't heard it

I had heard that song because I occasionally watch Rick Beato ironically. But no, I don't follow the modern country (or any other genre charts) because I am a SNOB. We need snobs more than ever now that Taylor Swift sings dogshit songs about her man's dick

It's impossible for me to weigh in on the Ella Langley country discourse without becoming a toxic bro asking people to name 3 Lefty Frizzell songs. But let me just say you can love country and reject the modern Nashville sound and establishment

A color portrait of drummer, singer, Genesis frontman, and Top 40 solo artist Phil Collins, circa 1990. Special Operative Yìchén sees the image and can’t help himself. He’s suddenly air drumming the 10-note tom-tom fill from “In the Air Tonight.” His director at the Eleventh Bureau shoots Yìchén a stern look from beyond the cubicle.

CORSICA.BMF
A blue Chevy Corsica, a ubiquitous sedan in the early 1990s but now largely forgotten. If you ever rented a car between the years 1987 and 1995, chances are it was a Corsica. Samantha rented a Corsica, only once, at PDX. She drove the four hours to Gold Hill to see at long last the Oregon Vortex. For most people the Oregon Vortex was a cheesy roadside attraction, a place where balls roll uphill and you know it’s contrived but you’re delighted in the wonders of the illusion. For Samantha, though, the Oregon Vortex was a pilgrimage. It was proof. Proof that what she witnessed in the woods when she ran away from home those many years ago was real. How when she lay in the forest on a bed of moss, the ferns surrounding her like pinnated green curtains, she took off her ring and dropped it, and the ring fell up.
