Young Gannets practicing their fishing skills at Seaton Carew yesterday (NE England.) I only saw one catch a fish, and it was immediately mugged by a young gull - which was subsequently mugged by an adult gull, who was then assaulted by crows…😕 🪶 @teesbirds.bsky.social

The Easterton Of Roseisle Stone - a Class 1 Pictish Symbol Stone discovered at Moray in 1894. The stone probably dates to the 5th or 6th centuries, and is now part of the collections at the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh. 📸 My own #StandingStoneSunday #Picts

Weirdly blue lichen at the beach yesterday - possibly Ramalina siliquosa that’s been exposed/covered with something? There were several separate tufts all the same colour. There was remains of a campfire nearby 🤨 (northeast England). #lichen #fungiFriday #nature #fungi

Gannets in the bay - lovely to get good views of these fabulous birds; I wonder if they inspired some of the designs in early medieval manuscripts? They seem to resemble some of the illustrations, and the monks in Northumbria would surely have known them. 🐡🪶 #superSeabirdSunday
