I have no concussion and am also unsure what I just read. Rich men are insane (and disgusting). That's my takeaway. Oh, and also, rich people shouldn't be allowed to use ChatGPT because they are already delusional enough without it.

There’s an aggressively paid for influence op going on right now to defend AI slop as art and protected speech across platforms. AI execs realize they have a problem and don’t wanna get Marie Antoinette’d. The free ChatGPT trip is the tip of the iceberg. First person to nail it down gets a Pulitzer.

This is quite alarming. Not surprising to anyone who has been following the cognitive loss studies on AI, but VERY concerning for the future of learning if we don’t manage to shut down the thinking-isn’t-important machine.

Both the Economist and others suggest this study demonstrates that AI can help students. So I contacted the lead researcher to figure out how many. Answer: Out of ~26,000 kids, a total of 20. And five months after starting to use AI, only four continued to spend 65 minutes on homework. Four.
Graph of student exam scores correlated to homework completion time for to groups, students using AI and those that did not. There is a slight spike for studens using AI who also maintained extensive homework completion time. As described in post, the number of students falling into this bucket was 20 out of 26,000.

every single person pushing this angle is intellectually bankrupt. The data centers being built today are for NOTHING other than AI compute, and are much, much larger and more destructive. If none of them got built, services like online banking, social media and streaming would continue to function.

But because we're still something like an open democracy, we have a moment to act that no other country in this situation has ever had, as far as I know. And the method of potentially stopping this is what we're best at. WE NEED TO CALL OUR MEMBERS OF CONGRESS. www.patreon.com/LOLGOPStudio...
Sample script:

“Hi, my name is [Your Name] and I’m a constituent living in [Your City/Zip Code]. I’m calling to speak with the staffer who handles immigration or DHS oversight.

(Once connected to the right staffer, or if leaving a voicemail:)

I am calling to ask [Representative/Senator Name] to immediately intervene and block funding for a new DHS procurement request on SAM.gov. The solicitation is titled ‘Operational Support for Aircraft Maintenance and Services’ and it asks for a fleet of aircraft and a network of offshore, 1,000-bed international detention facilities.

Because this contract has not been finalized yet, Congress has a critical window to step in. I want the member to demand immediate oversight hearings and publicly pledge to defund this global camp network before any taxpayer money is awarded. Can I count on [Representative/Senator Name] to take action on this?”

You can also call the U.S. Capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121 and ask to be connected to your representative’s or senators’ office.

It is to my understanding that education, healthcare and retail jobs all far outstrip typical 'blue collar' labour jobs in terms of workers, and are all notably not masculine-coded, yet people consistently seem to leave out those sectors when talking about the needs of the working class.
