naw man, there's a fourth AI design, "enormous serif headings and teeny 1.5:1 contrast all-caps sans serif subheads"

my company's registered at the second scammiest one; just for the sake of having a virtual mailbox so as to not receive business junk mail. proud to announce I have received zero (0) trading standards complaints in my ten years though

I am sympathetic to Silicon Valley guys ascribing human-level consciousness to AI because if I had to talk to people from Silicon Valley all day I’d probably have a real low bar for sentience too

it's a procedure to join two consenting adults who love each other into a culturally and legally recognised union, but that's not important right now. (I've been quiet about it as we're doing it in Norway and the paperwork and bureaucracy has been a stressful ballache, but I'm very much excited}

I cannot believe that it's eight days until my wedding and the 1password chuds are making me add "change my password manager" to my bloody todo list. outrageous
An email from me to business@1password.com:

Hi there,

Been subscribed since 2019. Loved your product.

Just to add to the numbers of people who are cancelling because 1Password is now sponsoring Omarchy. While your PR bods may insist this is only to support the technical work involved in the project, and make no personal endorsement of its figurehead, Mr. Heinemeier Hansson, or his views, you know that’s nonsense. He is very publicly the face of the project and makes no effort whatsoever to separate his personal views from his work.

If you want to give money to organisations whose leader calls for ethnic cleansing,  you’d have been wise to follow other tech leaders and make those donations on a personal level, so there’s at least a paper-thin veneer between their views and that of their organisation. I cannot in good conscience maintain my 1Password subscription knowing that part of that money goes directly towards supporting the spread of fascism.

Kind regards,
AlexA list of 1Password subscription billing line items ($35.88/year) from 2019 until 2026 and a trial in 2018

this is excellent
stigmatizing Rowling’s weaponization of childhood not only requires personal withdrawal for most people, it necessitates something much more difficult: being a giant fucking killjoy. You should tell people discussing the show that you’re not watching it, and why, and you should let yourself openly cringe at your sister-in-law’s Harry Potter tote bag, and you should bring up unprompted that the onslaught of legislation against trans people makes you sad and angry, presuming it does, and you should do this because, not despite, the fact that it will make you look annoying as hell and may make everyone present uncomfortable. (You probably won’t even get the kudos of looking like a cool ally, because you’re still ultimately talking about Harry Potter. Sorry about that.)

tell you what lads, I am sick to my back teeth of waking up every day to find out about another figure in tech being fash, associating with fash, or funding fash; and long for the days when this caused some backlash in their immediate circles instead of a laudatory circlejerk on X The Everything App

the thing I'm contracting on has gone >15 years without a rewrite, and generally I really like it because rewrites are unnecessary, and it's not Just Another SPA (jQuery my beloved—we didn't know how good we had it) but today I came across a conditional check to see if the browser was IE5 for Mac 😅

The "double square" is much less well-known than the "double diamond" methodology, but much more frequently practiced
Two-step process labeled the double square method: 1. The PM has an idea. 2. The engineers build it.

what helped with my M1: - be more selective about spotlight indexing (especially anything containing a node_modules) - try disabling some of your background third party apps and utilities; had used Magnet and Bartender for many years but lately they've apparently been perf hogs so I replaced them

if the government wants people to keep emergency alerts on there really, really, really needs to be an alert level below the current HEART ATTACK INDUCING SIREN FROM YOUR PHONE OMG PANIC, which imo, should be reserved for "active shooter within a mile of your location" and "incoming nuclear missile"

Was recently told at my intro session to wash mask daily (the bit that actually touches your face), wash the headgear and hose weekly, and to change filter every three months. All washing just to be done with warm, soapy water.
