I've been immersed in research on Reconstruction in Lousiana and it's a very difficult truth to absorb that the white terrorist movement in the South was among the most successful terrorist movements in global history. Just started the Mike Flanagan adaptation of "Carrie" on Prime, and ooooof watching it as a formerly sheltered teenager and as a high school teacher now, they're getting a lot of things right. Which is heartbreaking in all the right ways. I love Mike Flanagan, this is top tier so far.

The way I’d frame it is Trump is a permission structure. He gives both parties space to act or not act on policies they would’ve previously thought unthinkable. What we’re seeing now is an attempt to maintain that permission structure without Trump actually being in power à la Reagan.

How is owning/controlling all of this media NOT a violation of the Clayton Act? At least parts of it? The judge already ruled in one of the preliminary hearings that it did look as though the merger violates the Clayton Act. Then the theater owners suddenly changed their tune & approved the merger
