I like films, the odder the better. Interesting music and literature. I occasionally take pinhole photographs.

You’d have to be in thrall to the narrowest, most blinkered model of economics to believe that axeing Free Thinking and Thinking Allowed made sense. The amount of goodwill programmes like this earn from the BBC’s core supporters is way out of proportion to the pennies they cost to make.

THE INCREDIBLY STRANGE FILM SHOW (1988): Channel 4's early years were an education. This brilliant series, hosted by an enthusiastic Jonathan Ross, introduced me to Russ Meyer, John Waters, Ed Wood, Tsui Hark, Doris Wishman, and in this episode, the Godfather of Gore, H.G. Lewis!

Britain doesn't change. I'm rereading Holmes. It's 1887 and the Daily Telegraph speculates that a murder must have been perpetrated by refugees or socialists, and advocates a closer watch over foreigners, while the Standard blames such outrages on a liberal government. A Study in Red, White & Blue?

This has made me sad & angry. The independent businesses at Gabriel’s Wharf on the Southbank will be closing up for the last time this Sunday 27th Sept, efforts to save them have come to nothing. Owners Coin Street say the site will be demolished & ‘regenerated.’ Hmm www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
