The combination of "everyone has to be in a car all the time" and "everyone is now performing for a camera and creating content all the time" is a bad combination and not a sign of a healthy society.

Basic problem is that buyers of new cars, the wealthiest car owners, determine the sizes of all the cars on the road. The income gap between new car buyers & the average car owner has grown for 2 reasons: 1) more inequality; 2) cars have longer lives, so new cars are a smaller fraction of the fleet.

I've jokingly suggested- on multiple occasions- that the answer is "build more old buildings". An obvious contradiction, but time solves the paradox by making everything old, eventually. You just have to build today.

I was a zoning officer for 5 years, they want to magically have 100 old houses/apartments appear out of the mist. Look, they are all really low rent/cost! And they are so old they don't have to meet all the current codes! That's what they want. While living in a McMansion.

Sort of insane fact about how broken US urban planning is—America now spends more building *just the lights for roads and highways* than on all subways & ground mass transit combined Spending on roadway *pavement* is 18x transit spending

Listen: I don’t want to minimize the danger of high e-bike speeds. But if the problem here is that stores sell e-bikes that can drive faster than legal limits, then where’s the story about how literally *every car dealership has been doing the same thing for decades*?!?

This is the "Three/Four" - an accessible passive house 9 plex that could work citywide within existing R1 zones. To work it would need: 1. Remove (or) increase the unit cap beyond 6 units 2. Increase max height ~3m 3. Increase building depth (but keep the same lot coverage) 4. Remove density fees

Caffeine doesn't replace lost hours of sleep, it only masks the fatigue signals to your brain so you don't realize how tired you actually are. You still suffer the cognitive and physiological deficits from the sleep deficiency, you just can't tell. Which is good actually and fine I've decided
