Which birds, in your opinion, are the most Muppety?

Do you know how frustrating it is to have the only people acknowledging your existence be a) other trans men and b) the transphobes who want us dead or detransitioned. If your allyship only extends to trans women (or only trans women who are "feminine enough"), you're not actually an ally.

Once again, I want to remind people that trans men exist, and that trans men are neither cis men nor cis women, do in fact *exist* and face many of the same issues that trans women do, and also some unique issues. And that "nonbinary" does not mean "woman-lite" (unless that's how the individual IDs)

I realize we have a lot of relationship repair to do, and I submit to you that the best way to repair our relationships with other countries is to send a dog in and have them say "awww whose a good li'l president, YOU ARE, YOU ARE!"

Oh, definitely! I themoment, it was very "oh no, an unknown sandpiper and I didn't bring a book!" Didn't expect woodspipers, but it was pretty cool.

When I checked ebird for sightings and read the description, a sandpiper that migrates alone and tends to show up in the woods (woodspiper?), and went "ok yeah, that's it."

JCtheBird @jcthebird.bsky.social · 17/09/2026
The solitary sandpiper was my most recent lifer (this past spring migration), but I only figured it out after the sighting. I went for a woods walk, didn't bring a guide, found a sandpiper and went "oh no, what is it? kind of yellowlegsish but not?" Reading up later, solitary made the most sense.

Contrast gif format. Top half is a picture of a hamster (I think?) looking cool and collected, and the text "Me doing actual crimes in video games." Bottom half is a picture of a hamster looking terrified (like it's in the Blair Witch Project, frankly) and the text "Me choosing a dialogue option that's rude in video games."

Digital illustration of a Solitary Sandpiper wading through shallow water. The water glitters slightly with reflections from soft purple morning light and fog. The sandpiper is small and leaning downward as it inspects the water for food. It is mostly speckled gray and white, with a greenish bill and yellow legs.

Re: last repost. I know she and her cronies focused a lot of their screed against trans women and girls, but don't let them (or anyone) try to convince you that they were magically cool with trans men and boys, or with nonbinary people. She very much hates us too.

The reason JKR is suddenly saying more and more “moderate” seeming things is not because her views are “moderate”, you daft shits. It’s because she is registering that her extremely overtly transphobic points are now making her very unpopular.

i dont want to be in a fandom that critisizes the choices of fictional characters like they are human beings. i want to see THEORY and ANALYSIS and STORY STRUCTURE and CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT!! I WANT PARALLELS AND MOTIFS AND VISUAL CUES!!! They're not REAL they are TOOLS so stop acting like they are people who made bad choices and should be punished. of course they made bad choices!!! that shit is funny and cool to watch!!

What I'd like to know is does this include the store-brand fruit popsicles that are probably made by the same people? I picked up peach (presumably (hopefully) safe) at Aldi's today, but lingered at the tangerine (we just don't know!).

Digital illustration of a Heermann's Gull portrait on a misty beach. The gull has a white head, gray chest, and bright red beak and eyering. It looks calm and peaceful, much like the background, reminiscent of a cool foggy day on the west coast of North America.

Yeah, and even if something feels out of place, I'd at least ask first. When I'm looking to get something beta-read, I'm mostly like "hey, are there plot holes I didn't notice because this story lives in my head and I know how it goes?" and "has my spelling turned inexplicably British again?" XD

JCtheBird @jcthebird.bsky.social · 18/07/2026
I ran into a beta reader once who was like that. I was the artist on the fic, thankfully, not the writer, but I remember 1 bit so clearly. The writer had written in a specific whiskey, and the beta was like "ew, at least pick a *good* whiskey." The writer replied "... that's my husband's favorite."

JCtheBird @jcthebird.bsky.social · 10/07/2026
My writing process is sitting at work going "I want to go home and write," then not writing when I get home. And either wailing on Tumblr about how the fic is being uncooperative, or rejoicing that it's finally working again. And then wailing that I got three more ideas and do *not* have time.

(A further thought. Yes, I know "discomfort" can absolutely be weaponized to silence people, but also, "hey, can we not talk about [thing]" definitely has its places.)

Yes. I have had quote-unquote "sex-positive" people tell me that aces (esp. sex-repulsed) are inherently sex-negative because not wanting sex made you a prude or something? It's not sex-positive if you can't say no, or can't even say "hey, can we not talk about this right now, I'm uncomfortable"
