subcreation is mega important to me in a spiritual and theological sense. creation makes known the mind and hand of the Creator in the way that our works make us known to others. genAI obfuscates that by design and really just tries to pile on convincing facades via prompts. doesn't work for me.

i didn't mean i have more refined taste, i meant that my tastes in art and music are literally actually probably super unpalatable to you. to me art is at its best the more you sense the hand of the person who made it. the more convincing and flawless it is, the less interesting.

i brought them up because i wanted to get in front of people replying with "but the main thing is the environment/data centers/water/theft" and i didn't want to focus on that. unfortunately that did not seem to work lol.

no, I meant what I said, whih is that I don't have enough knowledge or experience re: the environment and energy/water use to use those arguments. nor do I have any interest in spending the time reading that it'd take for me to feel comfortable speaking authoritatively on that.

the metalheart one is actually the best there. i wouldn't be certain!

i think it may have to do with the way it generates text but you can definitely tell they're all AI even though they're not as outright offensive.

tbh, maybe this is bad, but i don't particularly care to bring up the environmental and/or theft problems because the output is so repulsive without even going there. it just plain looks bad and stupid. (also i can't speak on those issues with as much knowledge or experience)

man if you're a musician/author/developer and you spend years producing an album/book/game it'd be a shame to then append cover art that screams "hey, I didn't put any effort into this thing I made!", putting on the same level as a flyer for Ladies' Wrasslin' night at the redneck bar

exotica is cute because a good 40% of it is straight big band lounge music with a title like "Moon Chant of the Pacific" and maybe a sprinkle of uh ethnic percussion if you're lucky. they rarely deliver on the promise of fantasy and adventure.
