Main result: at equal tax revenue, wealth taxes generate higher wealth inequality but also higher wealth mobility than capital gains taxes. Policymakers who value both low wealth inequality and high wealth mobility face a trade-off.

Wirtschaftssoziologinnen Daria Tisch und Emma Ischinsky haben das Vermögen der reichsten 0,01 Prozent der Bevölkerung untersucht. Ihre Analysen zeigen, dass Weltkriegen, Revolutionen, Wirtschaftskrisen und Währungsreformen zum Trotz ein Teil der Spitzenvermögen in Deutschland erstaunlich beständig ist.
