As a reminder, the entire reason this specific bike lane is somehow under the purview of the Provincial Government is because our moron Premier has to pass it on his way to his job (on the rare days he goes to work) and the sight of a cyclist passing his SUV in traffic makes his blood BOIL

Adam Schiff could have gone to Alberta any other time since this trade war started but instead he decided to show up there, just 4 days before the referendum vote? And that ambassador Hoekstra piece of sh!t has the face to say that Canada is being monitored for interference in their midterms? WTF.

Being GenX/Millennial is such a trip. In our lifetimes, we saw people our age getting wild criminal penalties for pirating music and now have to sit and watch as companies gobble up our work with impunity.

It is not a fun feeling to be feeling like you are slowly going insane as you watch smart people around you become increasingly functionally incapable and inept as they use AI more and more. It feels like you are going crazy even though it's everyone else around you just becoming stupider.

Yep, in September I fractured a small toe, longest part was getting the referral from my GP's office, not getting into the actual ortho clinic which was like 4 or 5 days wait (super short for something non urgent). I bet I would have had the referral almost instantly if I had gone to urgent care.

Humans are spectacularly good at adding to systems and making them more and more complex. Sadly it's only our smartest that are able to recognize when things are not needed and removing things is the hardest step of all.

Canada is refusing to issue ISBNs to books primarily generated with AI. This illustrates both the urgency of the problem of the growing flood of slop books, and also the toothlessness of addressing it on the honor system without there also being consequences for lying
Use of artificial intelligence
By registering with ISBN Canada, you declare that your book was created by a human author. You may use AI tools only for limited support tasks, such as brainstorming ideas, checking grammar, or formatting your book. You must not use AI to generate the text, create the artwork, or translate the book. ISBN Canada does not issue ISBNs for works whose content is primarily generated by AI. LAC is currently reviewing its policy regarding the use of AI content creation and our guidance is subject to change.

More importantly, why the hell are the provinces allowed to set something that is literally a nation wide thing. How we operate between provinces time wise is literally the definition of a national issue, not a regional one. Save standard time, make it a federal decision.

@adamsson.ca tagging you in my follow-up since you engaged on my original thread. FullHost so far has been good, my issue with them originally was provisioning appeared to be stuck in limbo, but its that they manual approve things like VPS to try to prevent bad actors.

Ok, so I stand a bit correct on this thread. So far, FullHost is actually seeming to be really solid. I had a bit of a mis-understanding on my end, but I've sorted that out with their support team. Cautiously optimistic about FullHost as a good Canadian VPS host.

I'm convinced AI is our generation's radium - a discovery with genuinely useful applications in specific, controlled circumstances that we stupidly put in everything from kid's toys to toothpaste until we realised the harm far too late where future generations will ask if we were out of our minds.

I would love to use something like Hostinger (bonus points for being Lithuanian), however the lack of Canadian data centre is kinda killing me. I refuse to use something located in the US for a variety of reasons, but the Cloud ACT can go f itself specifically.

Ok, quick follow up, it is finally active, however again, 3 hours to spin up a virtual server is not ok. Will update as I continue to try out FullHost.

The most promising one I was hoping would work out is FullHost, but nothing inspires confidence like paying for a VPS server and it being stuck at "pending" for over 3 hours. DigitalOcean and Amazon you can access your server in under 1 min. I'm not expect that, but 3 hours at "pending" is not ok

I'm not looking for a huge server, in fact I want a small decent one, that is located in Canada and is a Canadian or European owned company because fuck the US and all of its data hoovering up. But literally all of the ones I've looked at or tried so far are utter trash.
