The FHS adds around £4k to the cost of building a new 3 bed home. Running cost savings are between £800 and £1100 a month; so homeowners quickly recoup their money and pay £25k less in bills over 25 years. We've put out a press release; Ed Matthew can chat if you want to discuss.

If the government builds all its promised 1.5 million new build homes to the Future Homes Standard, this will save bill payers around £35 billion on their energy bills over 25 years, and stops 41 million tonnes of dangerous carbon dioxide from being released into the atmosphere.

The small additional upfront cost is quickly recovered by homeowners and protects them from price shocks on the volatile fossil fuel market.

Heat pumps and solar panels offer dramatically lower running costs than homes fitted just with gas boilers, to the tune of around £1000 a year in a 3-bed house.

The UK’s Shadow Chancellor will announce today that the Conservative Party would axe the Future Homes Standard if elected. This policy cuts energy bills and emissions in new build homes by requiring builders to fit new homes with heat pumps and solar panels instead of gas boilers. @e3g.bsky.social

BREAKING: The Cost of Renting Receipt 1988 was the last time we had rent controls in England. Since then rents have risen by 1,200%. If our groceries had risen at the same rate, a standard ten-item shop would cost nearly £120, more than five times what it costs today.

10/ And one more thing. I find it somewhat ironic that some of the same people who told us heat pumps don't work now demand we all install heat pumps in the form of air conditioning. Because that is what an air conditioner is: a heat pump running in one direction.
