Great to see @jacobbastian.bsky.social and @harveymelody.bsky.social working on this! The focus on inflation during 2022/2023 obscured the fact that the fully refundable Child Tax Credit put money into the hands of working families that was later ended. It’s an important part of the story!

While violent crime is def a fee bigger social issue than property crime, the steady, unrelenting decline in property crime (which is basically a decline in theft, which is ~70% of index property crime) is not remarked-upon enough. It’s really striking.

I analyzed the Romney Family Security Act (FSA) Child Tax Credit (CTC) plan. While it does some very good things (monthly benefits, benefits during pregnancy, more benefits per kid, especially younger kids), it disproportionately helps higher income families earning 6 figures.
