Seems like some version of this runs every day
Like many of her neighbors, Ms. Vuittonet had been worried about the streams of new immigrants coming across the Rio Grande during the Biden administration and had trusted that Mr. Trump would stop them. Although some Trump supporters held signs calling for "mass deportations now" during the 2024 campaign, Ms. Vuittonet never thought such deportations would include people she knew who had lived in the United States for decades.
"I knew that he was going to start deporting people, but that he was going to go after bad criminals, like true hardcore criminals, rapists, killers," Ms. Vuittonet said, sitting in the small coffee shop she runs from the back of an antique store.
She thought of her six children, who range from ages 6 to 12. "Of course I want the streets safe."
But when her brother was taken to an immigration detention center earlier this year, just days after a scheduled check-in with an immigration official, she said it felt like a punch to the gut.

The president said it plainly in the Oval Office,
describing his own planned action as a "ban on the
free press."

The Constitution protects the freedom of the press
from government interference. That protection
does not depend on whether the president likes a
news organization's coverage, agrees with its
reporting, or approves of the questions its
journalists ask.

This is about more than the rights of journalists. It
is about the right of the American people to receive
a full and independent account of the activities,
policies and decisions of whoever occupies the
nation's highest office.
