A southwest of Ireland #painting "Ring, Cork" was painted when I sat with my bicycle beside Clonakilty Bay. I'm not very fast so the tide went out and back in again, and a woman walked out of her house to give this hungry painting stranger a plate of sandwiches and pot of tea. #SpéirGhorm #ArtYear
Landscape format in acrylics on canvas. Harbour scene. Foreground is rippling water of whites and very pale blues. Splotches of orange and green seaweed are along the bottom edge. In the mid-ground a warm olive grey stone pier juts out from the left with 2 small boats moored alongside in dark wine shadows, and several small boats resting on top. In the open bay and beyond the pier are a dozen small boats with orange buoys dotted around where water is a dark alizarin colour from the shadow or reflection of a large headland behind them coming out from the left edge with an entrance to the bay from the sea at the right end between it and the tip of another headland with a small strand which is just peeping out at the right edge of the painting. The large headland on the left has areas of dark green-blue trees and olive-green fields, with several grey and orange houses from bottom to top. Roofs are alizarin or grey. Sky is cloudy yellows with traces of lime. Signed top right in red, Liam Daly

I GENUINELY don't understand the obsession w/Starbucks products. It's rubbish. The coffee is too acidic and over roasted. You can barely discern any flavor. The consumables are barely food. Everything is overpriced. Why stay loyal to low quality product? Shop small businesses ☕️

Reading before bed is healthy. Apart from the part where “one more chapter” becomes 2:47am and you begin calculating whether four hours’ sleep is technically enough. Still healthier than lying awake wondering how the book ends. 📚

What a special pleasure to have birder, zoologist, and President of @ucc.ie, John O'Halloran, visit the rainforest today. UCC gave fantastic support to the production of our film and documentary, An Irish Atlantic Rainforest (now on RTÉ Player), for which I'm extremely grateful.

Climbing up to Djouce mountain looking back over the fern filled path. #Hiking #Photography #Scape #StunDay #EastCoastKin #Wicklow #Ireland
Standing deep in a hiking path overgrown with ferns on all sides. The plants here are starting to turn towards their Autumn colours and it won't be long before they die off for the Winter. But before they go they'll turn to these beautiful shades of yellow and gold while some of the green will hang on until the very end.

Looking out over the ferns you can see the Great Sugar Loaf Mountain in Wicklow. It's one of the most distinctive shapes in the landscape here. You can see it from almost every other mountain.

What makes my heart soar? Spending regular time in a rewilding landscape, seeing all the diverse life flooding back in, and remembering how barren it was not long before. Rewilding isn't just brilliant for nature, but for us too.

A view of a cluster of grey stone medieval buildings, including a round tower and a cathedral, situated on top of a green hill. The hill is covered in bright grass and dotted with grazing sheep. The entire scene is framed by the dark, rough edges of a ruined stone wall in the immediate foreground, acting like a window. The sky behind the hilltop buildings is filled with dramatic, puffy white and grey clouds against patches of blue.

Clouds over Cashel. #photography #EastCoastKin #TeamPixel #RockOfCashel #Tipperary #Ireland #History #Ruins #Mood #Travel
A dramatic wide shot of the Rock of Cashel ruins in Ireland under a heavy, dark grey sky. The stone cathedral walls and a tall, conical round tower are perched atop a rocky hill behind a lower stone perimeter wall. In the foreground, a black vintage-style street lamp and some brick chimneys of modern houses peek into the frame. The lighting is diffused and moody, highlighting the rough textures of the ancient limestone masonry and the jagged rock face.
