For reference, the EPA found that 70dB averaged over 24 hours was likely to cause sensorineural loss. The EPA used to be able to regulate noise, but the Office of Noise Abatement and Control in the EPA was unfunded by executive order in 1982.

"Some will say I should have prepared better. To them I ask: prepared how? By memorizing things? By practicing drawing pathways by hand like some kind of monk illuminating a manuscript? The whole point of AI tools is that I no longer need to retain information in my biological memory."

Not sure anyone else has mentioned it yet - but Elsevier owned editorial manager has an option available which checks references, and it seems to be reasonable (says ‘validated’ with a link to the paper, and ‘not validated’ if it can’t find anything)

The thing about treating younger, healthier patients is that if your provider isn't not exposed to pathology, they miss early signs when it does show up. A two-tiered system is worse for everyone.

Academics: is there an easy way to confirm that all citations on a manuscript actually exist? This seems solvable, and I really don't want to individually check all 20-50 on each article I review when they have an AI disclosure.

An update:
Reviewer Confidential Comments to Editor:

I requested twice to be removed as a reviewer from this manuscript to allow another person who might have more favorable views on the use of AI in manuscript production. These requests were ignored. My professional opinion is that accepting this work (and work like it) would make this journal little better than a paper mill.

AITA?
I would like to retract my agreement to review this article. The methods include the following disclosure " An artificial intelligence assistant (OpenEvidence, OpenEvidence Inc.) was used to assist with literature synthesis and manuscript editing." I find that performing an appropriate review of articles that rely on AI assistance as a critical part of their methods requires more effort for me to perform correctly, and I do not have the bandwidth.

To be autistic for a minute: there actually are Earth rocks on the Moon already. Sufficiently big impacts launch ejecta right into space, and some of that will have landed on the Moon. Some fraction of the material mixed up in lunar soil started out on Earth.
