The unrest among young people in France is a promising sign, shifting attention from the seemingly unstoppable rise of the extreme right to the question of what people can do on a grassroots basis to defend themselves and assert their interests against the state and the capitalists who control it.

Does anyone have this problem too, or is it purely bc of my stupid expensive phone being too damn thin folded up?
An example of my broken replies. The heart is on top of the re-tweet count.Example #2 shows not only the heart being on top of the re-tweet count again but any number past 99 getting shuffled downwards. Nigh unreadable.

You can't build a massive, multi-billion-dollar network of private detention camps and state-contracted prisons without a projected market that justifies the investment. Bodies in cells. They plan to fill every single bed and cot.

ICE builds more prisons because the goal is explicitly to warehouse surplus labor, criminalize poverty, and assert total control over all of society. When Stephen Miller claims there are 25, 30, or even 50 million "illegal immigrants" in the US, he's betting on how many of us he'll need to imprison

I am not being hyperbolic: the current financial condition of Oracle is entirely untenable. It cannot afford its obligations with regard to these data centers. If it stopped here it would merely have a really bad few years. If it continues much further it will die soon. If not, it will eventually.

In 1888, a graffito was found on a hallway wall in Pompeii. Called CIL 4.5296, this is a love poem, one of the longest and most elaborate surviving graffiti texts in the city. A poem written by a woman, and addressed to another woman ("pupula", my little doll or darling)
Graffito CIL 4.5296
Regio IX. Pompeii. interpretation of Mau, Augustus; Zangmeister, Karl Friedrich, eds. (1909)

“O utinam liceat collo complexa tenere
braciola et teneris oscula ferre label(l)is
i nunc, ventis tua gaudia, pupula, crede
crede mihi levis est natura virorum
saepe ego cu(m) media vigilare(m) perdita nocte

hos modo proiectos subito praecipitesque premit.
sic Venus ut subito coiunxit corpora amantum
dividit lux et se...”

“Oh, if only I could hold your little arms wrapped around my neck
and press kisses to your tender little lips.
Go then, little doll, trust your happiness to the winds.
Believe me, the nature of men is fickle.
Often I would lie awake, lost in the middle of the night,
Thinking to myself: many whom Fortune has lifted up high,
those, suddenly hurled away/abandoned and falling headlong, she then oppresses.
So too, after Venus has unexpectedly joined the bodies of lovers,
daylight divides them and...”
