For what it's worth, I'm really grateful that a version of the IPA recipe lives on in Little Creatures Pale Ale and St. Austell's Proper Job IPA :) I was able to sample the latter a few years ago and it was amazing to taste some history.

Just a quick note of appreciation to @beervana.bsky.social! As Karl's daughter, I grew up hearing a LOT about the importance of the Bridgeport IPA, but not really understanding why it stood out in the 90s. Incredible.Thank you so much for crafting a history of this craft brew for me and other fans.

One of the silver linings of this crash, from what I learned during my research, is that some PhDs in physics decided to pivot into science education, which lead to an explosion in great #scicomm in the 1980s.

In 2022 and 2023 I became somewhat obsessed with the warnings about surviving “radiation emergencies” that were posted around northern New Jersey. For this week’s DOOMSDAY MACHINES, I share my obsession with you, and analyze the motivations, messages, and methods of the campaign. 🐕

If I accidentally 'read it,' I remark it as 'unread.' My 'main inbox' must only contain email that needs to be answered within 24 hours - that way, I see it and know it's there. Hope that's helpful!

I use folders obsessively, in work and in personal life. People that I talk to a lot get their own folder. Important subjects get their own folder. Mundane things like 'Amazon Returns' get their own folder. As soon as an email comes in, I triage it into one of these folders and I keep them unread.

On August 26, 1966, readers of the NYT woke up to the first photo of the Earth from the Moon on the front page. Here's a thread about how the Lunar Orbiter team retrieved it from film on a spacecraft orbiting the Moon, showing the reconstruction process back on Earth. 🧵(1/12) 🗃️🔭 #photography
A screenshot of a headline and image from a newspaper. The image is fairly low quality, but shows a crescent earth to the left, suspended in blackness, next to the limb of the moon taking up most of the right side of the image. Across the image are horizontal stripes. The headline at the top reads "How the Earth Looks from the Moon". The caption reads "Photo taken by Lunar Orbiter when it was 27 miles from moon, right, shows the earth covered by a white cloud. horizontal orientation lines were added to the picture after it was received at a tracking station near Madrid"

The Artemis II mission reminds me of these 1960s photos of NASA astronauts training in Iceland because they felt the terrain would be similar to what they'd encounter on the moon. The outfits are so great, even some 60 years later.
Photo of three men standing on top of rocky terrain. One is wearing a blue zip-up jacket with a blue chambray shirt and tan chinos. One is wearing a green-black checkered jacket with red chamois shirt, white pants, and cowboy hat. The other is wearing a blue parka with with blue jeans. Two photos. In the first, three men are wearing bomber jackets with blue or white jeans. In the second image, one man is wearing an off white (possibly chamois?) shirt with blue jeans. Another is wearing a blue denim trucker with blue jeans. A third is wearing a blue quilted parka. Two photos of groups of men. They are wearing Nordic sweaters, olive bomber jackets, flight suits, black-green checkered jackets, cowboy hats, beanies, and jeans. Two photos. In one, there's a man wearing a brown tweed with a checked shirt. In the other photo, men are wearing bomber jackets and high-waisted cotton pants.
