For anyone else from the Bay who doesn't live there anymore: I wrote a line into a script about the specific sounds BART trains make when they pull into/out of the station, then I looked up & listened to field recordings of these sounds, & it was more soothing than I expected. The history of tattoos dates back thousands of years. In the Northwest, people have been getting tattooed since long before Oregon even existed. Today, more tattooers are getting licensed to practice the craft in the state each year, and Oregon is a destination for people looking to get inked.
