Councils encourage and normalise pavement parking. This practice needs to be stopped. If there isn't enough road space then there needs to be less parking. Pavements blocked by vehicles are a real problem for disabled. Or does convenient parking trump disabled rights? www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

I am disabled and have never been allowed to drive, which is the norm here in Canada. You generally have to fight pretty hard to convince them to let you have a liscense. So when I see people opposing bike lanes and multi-use paths, which I rely in, using me as their example, I am filled with rage.

Why might people who use cycles or mobility scooters as mobility aids need dropped kerb to reach cycle & other secure parking? #notrocketscience #disabledaccess wanderingdanny.com/oxford/2026/...
On an urban street with high kerbs, one cyclist cycles along the pavement to access cycle parking. Another cyclist dragging a buggy has to stop in the cycle lane and drag their bike on to the pavement, forcing approaching cyclists into traffic.

My guess? The council placed this in response to residents' complaints about antisocial motorbike use. But pedal cycles & legal pedal assisted e-bikes increasingly come in many forms (not just narrow bicycles),.. ..frequently ridden by disabled people. So this may be a breach of the Equality Act.

Graphic titled “You’ve told us... it’s essential to be able to transport children using mobility aids” has a photo of a man with one leg wearing a flat cap riding an e-assist cargo trike away from the camera with a child in the front compartment. They are on a road, going past a playground. The man is saying “I use an electric cargo trike to do most of the things I would otherwise need a car to do. It’s stable enough to take my granddaughter to school plus it’s powerful enough to carry the weekly shopping. My cargo trike gives me more independence, frees up my wife from having to do everything and makes being a grandfather more fun”.
