@potterybyosa The one of the left does not look made for pouring liquid from. If one had a cork you've got a not just a bottle of wine, but also a wee holy grail peeps can drink from too stuck on top. As my brother in law says the big issue with buying a few litre carton of wine instead of […]

Catching up on some sickening news in US sports and checked a channel from a dude I had heard before, after checking court docs. Was a few mins in until I realized it's an AI voice he's using, and only clocked it due to what I think was prompt/typing errors saying "m s g's" instead of […]

@0x4d6165 The sacred history of the Catholic/Orthodox, Jewish and Islamic worlds is a weird one. As there is so much power tied up with 'maybe something in this book might be true' there's a lot of clinging hard. Maybe St Paul wrote something that made it into the NT, maybe Moses is real […]

@jcrabapple I think they are more like processing plants as we have been providing far too much data for traditional surveillance. Google likely doesn't want or need all your emails and web history over decades, a summary is fine.

Torta Tenerina vs. Torta di Tagliatelle: who won? (The result is in the alt text) #Food
Two traditional Ferrara's cakes side by side: a dark chocolate Torta Tenerina dusted with powdered sugar on the left, and a golden Torta di Tagliatelle topped with thin, nest-like strands and powdered sugar on the right.
So, who won? Both of them, because I ate them both. 😄

NASA picture of the day today is a real 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿beauty! This is a composite image of the ~5000yo Callanish Stones on the Isle of Lewis. The amazing Giuseppe Petricca has only gone and photographed the Sun at noon there, every few days, for a whole year. #Dedication 🔭🧪👌 ℹ️: science.nasa.gov/image-articl...
The imposing Callanish Stones stand talk with their shadows spanning out across the glass. It's a super clear sky, but looks cold. Above the central stone is a strange figure-of-8 shape of dots. This is the location of the Sun, at noon, on various different days across the year.

Playing through some early From Software games and starting to think Miyazaki ruined everything by trying to duct tape Resident Evil to From Software for cash. Also thinking dual analog sticks were a terrible idea that we are just kinda stuck with now.

One of the big crane ships was back in Leith the other day, so I hustled on down there with my camera and... got there just AFTER the golden evening sun disappeared behind the clouds on the horizon. D'oh! Still, big things by the shore... Fun anyway! […] [Original post on mastodon.scot]
An enormous crane ship, parked up on the shore by a little lighthouse. It catches the last of the warm evening sun, and the clouds behind it are beginning to turn pink in the light of the sunset.

This is the Seaway Alfa Lift, and it can sail around the world, lifting items up to 3,000 tons in weight, up to 108m into the air. An extraordinary vessel.A dockside filled with the widely-dispersed industrial bits and pieces you might expect on any modern dockside. There's a three-storey building which presumably houses some kind of control or operations centre, and then a series of lower sheds, various vehicles, a lot of flood lights...

Towering over them all are a series of three-legged bright yellow structures. They're all 'jacket foundations' and are up to 95m tall. They will all sit underwater in the north sea once they're installed, each holding a transition piece and then a tower and then a wind turbine above them.
