The competitiveness of the white conservative lasted exactly as long as artificial barriers to entry for everyone else did, what they lost to was the free market they pretended to care about because their entire success was based on not actually facing competition.

Hard to explain fully but the “AI is conscious / has a soul” discourse is the endpoint of a vulgar Gnosticism that arises from living among overlapping invisible systems of power and capital, with a curated screen as the only porthole available

Overall things are moving in the right direction: "Around USD 2.2 trillion is going collectively to renewables, nuclear, grids, storage, low-emissions fuels, efficiency and electrification, twice as much as the USD 1.1 trillion going to oil, natural gas and coal."

Higher Ed gets enough hate but there might not be anything more hellishly cynical than a Sexual Assault Task Force and their “reports” which always find the institution is doing the best it can and is not legally culpable and must do better, maybe another Task Force is the trick

Anyway, as always, there are very good arguments for prioritizing partition as opposed to democratization, but the actual immediate steps needed in both cases are the same; an arms embargo, sanctions, and international coercion to shift the internal logic of Israel away from occupation and hegemony.

Trans people fought for their own rights AND everyone's rights, mostly by supporting Democrats, but the Democratic party hasn't done solidarity and reciprocation like that for a long time. What they see are Republicans wanting them to die & Dem consultants making a sad face & shrugging indifferently

Fascinating finding that totally makes sense with how biological organs and functions tend to evolve separately then converge much, much later and become interconnected and/or symbiotic systems. Also supports the theory that b/c computers can't have a body/outside they can't be conscious like we are
