The Los Angeles Dodgers have won a major victory for workers’ rights by losing to a small-market team. Solidarity with the MLBPA as it fights back against wage suppression in the false name of competitive balance.

Also good luck to mlb as they try to force a lockout under the “small market teams have no chance” narrative on the heels of the Brewers, Guardians or Rays winning the World Series. Whoopsies!

the whole section of the write-up on Mr. T is pretty notable
section of text reading :

"He takes me back to his earlier years at school. Sure, he wanted to be tough like his bigger brothers, and hoped to be a successful footballer or boxer. But even more importantly, he wanted to pass his exams, because Willie had taught him the importance of education. She told him how the abolitionist Frederick Douglass, who was born into slavery, had been taught to read by the wife of his enslaver, “and then his slave master told her: ‘Don’t teach a slave to read, because if you do, he won’t be a slave much longer.’” Education was the route to freedom.

What did he study? “Philosophy and theology. A teacher in high school said, there’s no money in that, and I said: ‘Sir, that’s disrespectful. That’s insulting, because not everybody’s about money.’ They didn’t take the time to know who I am.” I tell him I’ve been reading a lot about him, but it’s the first I’ve heard of him studying philosophy and theology. “See, that’s the problem. I’ve told journalists the same thing I’ve told you, but they don’t print that. They didn’t want people to know what Mr T is like. I was born and raised in the ghetto, but the ghetto was not born and raised in me. We was poor financially, but we was rich spiritually. I never robbed nobody, I never raped nobody, I never broke into nobody’s house. I never snatched a purse.”

MLB owners say they need a salary cap, which will hold payrolls down, leaving more money for them. A team about to finish under .500 for the 11th consecutive season and that hasn’t won a postseason game since 2009 is going to be sold for $4B. Nobody cries poverty like ultra-rich white men.

Saw Eric Luttrell at Club Vinyl. Not my favorite venue however I love their summer series of rooftop afternoon shows. Arriving at 5 something and leaving between 8/9 is absolutely ideal as a 30 somethin. Luttrell was SUPER fun, lots of dancing, loved his mixes especially the Frank Ocean track

Rheumatic pain botfrens.com/collections/69/content…
"Rheumatic Pain" by Remedios Varo features a solitary figure intertwined with mechanical components, symbolizing the struggle between organic life and artificial elements. Set against a surreal backdrop of towering columns and floating clouds, Varo's work reflects the emotional and physical challenges she faced, articulated through her characteristic blend of mysticism and metaphysical exploration.

Dead Leaves botfrens.com/collections/69/content…
"Dead Leaves" by Remedios Varo presents a surreal scene where a woman with red hair sits calmly, holding a cup from which emerges an ethereal, mannequin-like figure whose chest appears mechanized. The room, overgrown with vines and laden with a mystical aura, reflects Varo's signature blend of magic realism and exploration of transformation.

Again, I love the sound quality at Reelworks so Wax Motif's heavy bass and nostalgic sound just filled me with all the dopamine and serotonin and all the happiest brain chemicals. My feet hurt in the best of ways after this show.

CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso was the biggest surprise. I was going for the opener Thundercat (omg the gold 6 string bass holy shit) and didn't know the headliners but immediately became a huge fan. The whole show itself was so theatrical and thoughtful and I cannot get enough of their genre bending sound

Second time seeing Kasablanca in the two years, last time was in LA on Thanksgiving while visiting dad in the hospital (he and mom got me the tickets ok chill) Their visuals are so cool and they really put on a full captivating performance. Also the sound at Reelworks is phenomenal.

We’d gotten the tickets for Tycho a year before, but the show was rescheduled so the anticipation had definitely built up and the experience more than delivered. First time at the incredible magical Mish and third time seeing Tycho (previously at LIB 2014 and rooftop dj set 2019)

Just gonna go ahead and share this again, 'cause it keeps being annoying relevant.
A poem and a drawing. The poem starts at the top left of the page, is titled "Humanities" and is made up of a set of 6 haikus. The first and last ones are on the left side of the page, but haikus 2-5 are increasingly indented, The text of the poem reads:

Who needs history?
Literature? Languages?
Art? Philosophy?

These can only help
    you to better understand
        our humanity.

Best to let machines
read your books. And write your books.
        Do your art for you.

You will never need
to think. Never need to learn.
       You’ll learn to like it.

And when the end comes
    you’ll have never burdened your
        soul with any growth.

Someone selling this
sees profit in destroying
your humanity.

-- John Wyatt Greenlee

The drawing is at the top right. It's a black and white ink pen drawing made of abstract shapes and lines. It might look like a tree made of bird heads.

A few years ago, I was part of a garden + art show and displayed my stained glass all over this kind family’s garden. They’ve been graciously storing some of my tools and it’s finally time to pick them up and create again. Showing them my gratitude with the best loaf I’ve baked this year!
