Dozens of unprosecuted coups & massacres—actively encouraged by those in power—revived the fundamental logic of the pre-emancipation state: that Black Americans had "no rights which the white man was bound to respect." 402142804
Isaiah Johnson @icjohnson.bsky.social · 15/05/2026I often ask myself how one grant reviewer views a project as a 4, while the other sees it as a 1. Maybe we should do a better job at coordinating on reviewers instead of having such drastic differences in the review process. But, what do I know 🤷♂️ 000

Isaiah Johnson @icjohnson.bsky.social · 04/03/2026To motivate the Crockett case further, co-authors and I have a working paper right now that shows the difficulty faced by Black women running for office. TLDR: Black women are uniquely punished by racially resentful Whites AND Black men when displaying anger. Going to be difficult to overcome. 100
Isaiah Johnson @icjohnson.bsky.social · 04/03/2026The problem with Texas (as a Texan), is Ds have to win a plurality of Latino, White, and Black votes. As it stands, Crockett is winning the Black vote up 45 and east, while Talarico is winning White plains and Latinos along the border. Still too early but Dallas (and the missing votes) will be key. 100
