Reminder for anyone interested: If you have an account on the MediaOCD site, you can use their extremely generous points system to reduce prices on stuff you buy, Aniplex stuff included. Not perfect, but it's better than nothing. And I can confirm that their points system is EXTREMELY generous.

Just saw the DONNIE DARKO anniversary re-release and the teens in attendance were all theorizing about what happened as they left and in the lobby afterwards. It warms the heart.

Revisiting this movie with @ianrw.bsky.social. We got in rather late to NYC and didn't feel like doing much so checked what was playing at the nearby theaters. Thankfully it appears to be the theatrical cut not the dreadful director's cut.

New Review: Those Who Hunt Elves I & II 30 years ago tonight the "modern day late-night infomercial" made its debut with an isekai series about a trio who have to strip elves to find their way back home. Today the format TWHE debuted now dominates anime production... but how's the show itself?

"The ‘Digger’ Defense Squad Is Out in Force" Quotes the contractually-obligated star of the film and Guillermo del Toro. Gives zero metrics in which to base that that a "defense squad" exists, much less is loudly proclaiming support for the film.

Listen, we cannot write full-throated articles and hyperbolic headlines based on what our friends are saying on Bluesky. I haven't seen this movie. For all I know, it is actually really good and maybe it'll earn that strained comparison to Blade Runner some day, but we need better journalism.

I love how for a brief moment they considered just STAR TREK, letting the differences do the talking. Also, they figured if it didn’t make it past year one they could add it as a fourth season to the original’s syndication package.

No one's bringing this up, oddly enough, but this is listed as a sub-only release, so Harmony Gold's English dub won't be included. Therefore, anyone hoping for the Dracula TV special anime to one get a release should likely expect the same lack of HG dub to apply to that, too. Still, nice release

Normally I go ham for McDonald's anime parodies, but now that they've literally done a WcDonald's campaign in real life, it kinda gives the feeling of a brand picking up decades old slang and now it's not cool anymore.
