Healthcare is a basic human right. (Under-diagnosed rural she) (attempting to learn and grow) (struggling greatly) (feeling out-of-place most of the time) (sometimes my impatience with others is actually with myself?! 🤯) 😷

All of these responses are tinged with himpathy, implying that rapists can be healed by empathy and education. You cannot educate someone who does not respect you. Men getting more empathy than their victims is why rape is so common in the first place.

The first requirement of restorative justice is a perpetrator’s confession. He has to admit what he has done and to take accountability. The men in this case are smearing the victim and threatening her with lawsuits. They are not candidates for RJ. They would turn it into a new site of violence.

Cornell University treating Gaza protestors more harshly than gang rapists is a real statement of values. It’s almost like violent domination by the powerful is the core belief of leadership.

I don’t want to share the gory details of the Cornell rape case, but two things are clear: Many men need a lesson in consent. Institutes of higher learning will bury rape allegations to protect their privileged male students and their reputations. Writing an essay is NOT sufficient punishment.

Approx 9000 Maritime Electric customers currently lack power. Fortis Inc, (the owner of Maritime Electric) boasts $79 billion in total assets but still seeks funding from taxpayers (AKA PEI govt) to "recover" from Fiona. Won't someone think of the billionaires? How will they survive?
A screenshot from Fortis Inc. website stating they have:

95% transmission and distribution assets

10.5% 10-year average annual total shareholder return

Dolly Parton was universally loved because she was a rich person who knew what it was like to be poor, stayed down to earth, and spent her life giving back to others who were less fortunate. The oligarchs who don’t understand why everyone hates them probably won’t learn from this. But they should

As we recall the trauma caused by COVID in 2020, we should not forget COVID continues to harm. Many still suffer from Long COVID, people who mask are often harassed, and we haven’t scaled clean air infrastructure. If we truly acknowledge past harms, we should be working to create a better future.

How does one convince the autocorrect on their phone to spell Jennifer with 2 fs in the same document where Jennifer was spelled correctly more than 4 times? Anyway, when you read my name and then write it back to me incorrectly, I judge you big time. Jennifer is the opposite of a rare name.

A lot of people don’t realize the dust bowl wasn’t a natural phenomenon. It happened when agrobusiness interests dramatically transformed the plains without regard for drought, and created vicious dust storms that choked whole families to death. That’s what I think of when I read about data centers.

Less than ideal: My trigeminal neuralgia is so painful today that when I sat down on the couch, I didn't notice the thumbtack that went into my leg. I only know it happened cause the tack fell out when I stood up, and I heard it hit the floor. Then I found the hole it made in my leg. #ChronicPain

If I had five cents for every time I wished I was dead, I could afford a boring ass bungalow built in 1966, sitting on .15 acre, listed for over half a million dollars. Unfortunately, depression pays as well as capitalism pays the working class, which is to say I will never have somewhere to live.

It confuses me that people are afraid of death. Probably because every morning I wake up alive is another forced day spent in a capitalistic hellscape that I can't afford to live in and feel excluded from around 95% of the time. I hope death means I no longer have to fail repeatedly at pretending.

Poor Lukas clearly needs help but is not receiving even a tiny bit. He is not yet destitute enough for society to deem him worthy of help. After he fails at this for another few years, gets physically & mentally broken, wears down his nails, he'll be told it is too pricey to repair him at his age.

Healthcare is a right. You shouldn’t have to earn it. It shouldn’t be dependent on employment or economic status. It shouldn’t be something you have to fight for. It shouldn’t be something that leaves you in debt for life. Universal healthcare saves lives.
