Its obviously not something thats really safe to talk about online because of the anti-trans politcal climate but it I think a lot about how trans people are so thoroughly seen as acceptable targets for abuse that abusers that are trans themselves frequently target other trans people specifically.

I think there is a particular flavor of sexism that shows up in a lot of anime. To whit, does a female character -Have only one relationship to a single male figure? -Or have no relationships to men at all? -Or have an abstract relationship to all men? (this is the idol thing)

A lot of anime is culturally conservative, on a wide enough political spectrum. At the very least its hard to find "leftist" or feminist anime. You can explain this with some basic material analysis of the Japanese entertainment industry. A lot of the same stuff is true of American entertainment.

To the extent that weird ideas about gender, and how "the sexes" related to each other, did enter my head yeah, a lot of it came from TV and books and shit. And maturing involved identifying how that stuff misleadingly represented my own experiences. So I think the media effect is real.

He retired early, shortly after a number of us started seeing the same primary care physician, who was actually good, and so we all individually reported his behavior through her, as a mandatory reporter. But I cannot enumerate the harm that he caused, nor guess as to how many women he abused.

I and a dozen other Colorado trans women had a pizza party to celebrate the retirement of Dr Depaolo. He was the only Kaiser endocrinologist who was allowed to write hormones for trans women, and he would withhold renewing our prescriptions during check ups until after we allowed a "breast exam".

A lot of trans advocacy focuses on mental health outcomes and risk of suicide, and much of the modern reactionary pushback against trans healthcare is based in proving that it doesn't make us any happier. The first medical professional I saw for transition care would "inspect" my breasts every visit to "see how they were progressing." She was at the time the only person in town offering transition care that wasnt an hour away.

This is true, and always was. The therapist my parents sent me to in 1994 was talking to me about anal sex and kept trying to "arouse me." I was around eight years old; he was a full-fledged clinical therapist and started my conversion therapy.
