I put these wooden poles up in the prairie area of the yard. It’s where the praying mantises are. It’s that time for them to lay eggs. I’ve noticed they use the metal posts that are up in the oak wood I’ve planted, but the wood should be better in the cold.

5 foot wooden poles to give the praying mantis’ an alternative to metal post. If they lay their eggs, I’ll cover them with 1/4” mesh to keep predators away, but allow hatchlings to escape.

Watching 5 crows above me. Several hundred feet high. There was one leader and he turned and then they started flying in a large circle. They were going higher? Then suddenly, they found the wind. The crows really sped up and flew away. Pretty smart finding their own jet stream!
