In addition to however this affects the MT Senate race, I would also say that the statewide MT Dem primary turnout was considerably less than half of the Dem turnout just in Montgomery County, MD (elections.maryland.gov/elections/20...). The world’s most deliberative body (tm) folks.

I love this band but as a former Brazos Valley resident, I take issue with the Brazos River being described as “wild and clear and blue”. It is, at best, one of those things 🤣 Great tune though and great band (@imwithherband.bsky.social if you’re unfamiliar).
Photo of I’m With Her (a three woman folk-ish band) singing “Wild and Clear and Blue.” The lyrics “your voice runs/like the Brazos through me” are closed captioned on the photo.

New Day Rising is also a solid album cover, if a little on the nose, and also benefiting from having my favorite Husker Du song, “Books About UFOs”.

I could add a ton more. Marty Robbins “Gunfighter Ballads...” Butthole Surfers “ElectricLarryLand.” Wilco’s self-titled (why is the camel wearing a party hat 🥳?) and “Yankee Hotel Foxtrot”. Melvin’s “Stoner Witch” At The Drive-In’s “Relationship of Command.”

Sweetheart of the Rodeo. The almost psychedelic colors paired with the obvious intention to let the listener know that within lay something akin to Roy Acuff and Jimmy Rodgers, almost fractal layering. The use of the cartoonish characterization, not leaning into anything too blatantly risqué.

REM’s Murmur album cover highlights the bleakness of the abandoned area overgrown by kudzu. Regionally specific and just enough color that the faded effect enhances the artistry. Also, the juxtaposition of the straight lines and monochrome of the band name and album title are a nice contrast.

Sonic Youth gets the whole Rothko thing going on, with the single candle and flame drawing the eye along the same plane as the background.

I can think of a couple. McMurty’s Complicated Game has just amazing framing of the worn stage and the legs on an anonymous musician, with the chords creating a widening ‘V’ that draws the eye against the direction of the floorboards.

Same here. I was an avid cyclist in my teens/20’s. Lots of physical activity caught up with me, and I spent most of a decade getting knee & shoulder surgeries. Biking became really hard, especially hills (and I live in a place called “Rock”ville). But an e-bike had me cycling again in my 40s!

One of the hardest things about being fired from FHFA was that the Merit System Protection Board didn’t have many options for me. “We can give you your job back.” Uh, well, thanks but no. It’s not the job I signed up for. It’s been perverted by ideologues who want to kill it just to watch it die.

Rank and file Republicans are turning against LGBT acceptance and GOP politicians are leaning into bigotry in both rhetoric and policy. But it is you, the progressive queer or ally, who needs to open your mind and consider other people's feelings. news.gallup.com/poll/710810/...
Most of the recent changes in LGBTQ+ attitudes have occurred among Republicans. For example, in 2021 and 2022, 55% of Republicans said they favored legal same-sex marriage, but today, the figure is 37%. Among independents, support has dropped six points, to 67%, while Democrats’ views are the same as in 2022 (87% in favor).

E-bikes give people affordable, clean transportation. If kids are getting hit by pickup trucks, the answer isn’t to treat e-bikes like the problem; it’s protected bike lanes, safer crossings, lower traffic speeds, and infrastructure that keeps everyone separated from multi-ton vehicles.

💯 Everything is a result of POLICY (including not having one or ignoring the problem). Policy creates structure and minimizes social friction. It makes things possible. It makes things happen. It improves people’s lives. Taking a position is a first step. Policy is necessary to make a difference.

I used to play tennis at a fairly high level as a kid. You had to call your own lines at a lot of tournaments. Dad made it clear: In is in, out is out. Don’t screw around; play fair. If they call for a line judge though, judge’s job. They miss a call, let the other guy complain.

This is (one of) the problem(s) with this type of low-level corruption. Even if the U.S. wins - and as my coach dad used to say, take every advantage the give you (give is important there) - the win will have an asterisk. This is now an asterisk World Cup for the U.S. Men’s Team.
