This is in response to news that we’re never going to profit from TMX, despite the government regularly calling the project “wildly profitable.” Anyway, when the whole argument for the infrastructure to be built is PROFIT-BASED, (unlike Canada Post!) yes you do!!

talking with "good faith" conservatives about policy is incredibly frustrating because you eventually figure out that the basis for their beliefs is a combination of easily disprovable factual assertions that act as window dressing for unshakable reactionary gut feelings

Privatization wasn’t on the ballot when Canadians voted for Mark Carney. Really foul the way he’s using the blind trust so many continue to have in him to make massive, fundamental changes to Canada (hurting normal Canadians) so big companies can profit. Please pay attention.

You can easily madlibs this statement into being true of just about any group of conservatives. Replace “antebellum” “the South” and “having slaves” with “oil and gas” “Alberta” and “climate change” or “tech bro” “Silicon Valley” and “poisoning three generation’s brains simultaneously.” Still works!

Oh is the Shopify CEO like.......STUPID stupid? The system he called "good" suggested we hand out votes based on income tax paid. Does THE HEAD OF AN E-COMMERCE GIANT think sales taxes are income taxes?? Someone take away this man's phone!!!
Tobi Lutke posts on Twitter: "You pay $1 in tax on the first meal you have on January 1, getting you back to the vote you have today. funny how this is reported"

The screenshot shows he's either an idiot or thinks the rest of us are stupid enough to confuse income tax with sales tax

Fascinating that conservatives here describe the moderate climate policy of a carbon tax as a tax on everything, when the real tax on everything is unstable weather driving up food costs, power costs through weather disasters, and insurance. Seems a lot more expensive than the low tax on polluters

The flaw in the Carney doctrine is the idea that countries can only advance values when they are economically sovereign That only when there is no economic risk, can a country afford to talk about values It's not just defeatist, it misses the point that values are how you get economic security
