been reading university/higher-ed policies on the use of genAI in education. most policies propose using genAI safely, ethically, & responsibly, which is an oxymoron. the way current genAI is developed, deployed & functions renders the very ideas of safety, ethics, and responsible use meaningless

The vast, VAST majority of alfalfa grown in the west is for local dairy cows. Those big herds in a desert, gotta eat something! Blaming our huge alfalfa crops on exports is a political decision- it's a way for local bigwigs to avoid accountability for wasting water by blaming The Chahnese.

This preferential treatment by the BBC has gone on for long enough. When Farage says jump, they ask 'how high'. It sees us in a seriously imbalanced media landscape, not a peep from Burnham, or his Cabinet about that. It seems that, and the race riots, are subjects that simply don't concern them.

A point worth underlining here, I think. Labour Party members tried to sideline most of the clowns in Starmer’s cabinet in 2015 *exactly because* they knew that this is how they behave, what they will always do given the chance and because this is all they will ever have to offer.

I'm not saying LLMs don't have uses--they are good at parsing large amounts of data, or assigning things to general categories, for example--but the sheer amount of money churning around a largely circular economy raises some red flags for me.

ICE took a severely disabled mans caregiver away, and it killed him. Wael Tarabishi was dependent on his father to be his arms, his legs and his lungs. His dad went for his regular immigration check in and never came home. He’s rotting in a camp, and Wael died. The cruelty is the point:
