Doctor Who has described the BBC's new AI-generated director general as "pretty good", and suggested that the technology now enabled the creation of content "at the standard of an unimaginative man who spent years working at McKinsey then Google".

Does my Speak-n-Spell feel pain when I type O-U-C-H? The jury is out. Philosophers and neuroscientists say that's fucking stupid, but I called a guy from the Center for Pretending that Household Electronics Are Sentient and he said there's no way to know for sure.

I first wrote about dicamba back in 2017 when most of the coverage was limited to farming publications. And there's something that I think is missed in the Guardian piece that I think it's important to note about why Bayer is doing this.

New formulations of dicamba, an herbicide, seem to be causing havoc in America's soybean fields

I remain continuously puzzled with Centrists who think it’s a major own on the left to point out the candidates they supported from a leftist perspective actually suck because they turned out to not be leftist. “Ha ha ha, joke’s on you, turns out this guy is more like me and he sucks ass.” Okay.
Fetterman was the leftist choice and Sinema came from the Green Party. They are both creatures from the far left and they were both a disaster. You morons have an abysmal track record.

Survey results (17–20 July) listing main reasons for opposing a local data center: 50% environmental concerns (29% energy/water use, 13% environmental impact, 4% noise, 4% pollution); 14% quality-of-life; 11% economic effects; 11% negative views of AI; 10% other; 4% unsure.

From Kate Wagner's (@katewagner.wehwalt.net) powerful critique of Chicago's new Obama Center via The Nation. (@thenation.com). www.thenation.com/article/cult...
As is the case with the rest of the museum, the present—the here and now, the political world we currently inhabit—simply doesn’t exist. The nostalgia for the moment before the disaster and the refusal to reckon with what has actually happened since then is so palpable that at times it borders on delusion. At the Obama Center, one walks into 2008 and never leaves. “Hope and change” doesn’t disappoint, and as such it becomes little more than a brand or, perhaps worse, just something one can say without meaning it. Hope has a permanent home, as Jarrett put it. It is a tomb. —Kate Wagner, The Nation, August 12, 2026 https://www.thenation.com/article/culture/obama-presidential-center/
