I see Newcastle's new Dot Bikes hire scheme are causing controversy by being left on pavements. Thankfully drivers are fighting back with their dockless vehicles.

Incredible how "would be great if kids could walk/bike to school independently" somehow turns into a discussion about needing a car to move furniture.

Weirdly specific question - is there any way to access the Coastal Path that runs to Milton of Culloden from the Raigmore Interchange? Would be a much more pleasant off road route. Inverness to Ardesier by bike is a pain, and assuming when they dual it there still won’t be a pavement/bike path.

Good question! So there is no official route along that section of coast - theres been a pretty long campaign to get a route. Starting at stadium road and joinging the old road - then continuing to moray. The campaign is currently being spearheaded by a group called Inverness waterfront group

Hugely enjoyable cycle up the hill tonight. Expected it to be much colder than it was, and while it was blustery that helped keep me from overheating. Also, stopped at an honesty shed after spotting it on a past occasion. Not much (carryable) left which is a sign they’re doing a roaring trade. Yum.
Me, in cycling gear, helmet and sunglasses. The backdrop is a forest track, trees and a grey sky. A bike on a porch next to a light blue little shed with “Cakes” written on it. The interior of the cake shed in the previous picture. There are four shelves with various cakes on them.

Evidence report 10.24 The STPR2 package outlined in the STPR2 Highlands and Islands Appraisal Summary Table (THC119) is expected to boost active travel in the Highlands, raising the share of walking journeys from 17% to 20% and cycling from 1.6% to 15%. This aims to make walking and cycling more convenient, encouraging people to choose these modes over driving.

Should cyclists wear headphones or earphones? Chair of Ireland’s parliamentary Committee on Transport wants your views
-- It's an "extremely divisive subject" but little to suggest it's more distracting than a car radio. The chairperson of the Oireachtas Committee on Transport is seeking the public's views on wearing earphones or headphones while cycling -- a common complaint about cycling even when motorists are cocooned in soundproofing and loud sound systems. The committee chairperson, Michael Murphy, who is a Fine Gael TD for South Tipperary, said: "Do you think cycling with earpods and headphones is dangerous?
