I've been working on a very weird Pico8 game off and on. It's kind of a minimalist puzzle/adventure game. Would releasing it for free on Steam be nice or is that just adding to the deluge? It's a game that's going to have niche appeal at best, zero appeal at worst lol

i have been asked to add a photo mode and i have been asked, elsewhere, to add a leaning function. rather than either of those things, you will be given the ability to move the Freecam around. here is an image of me doing so in my test environment. this fulfills both of the requested functions.

I had the same feeling basically. Just the way the ending is set up is extremely unsatisfying, if there was actual conflict and not another oopsie then it would've worked so much more.

I also think that talking about development in micro blogging is inherently unintuitive and, ugh, doesn't favor in engagement. Reminds me that a long time ago I've read Jason Rubin's blog on making Crash Bandicoot, and all the insane optimization required to make it fit on a PS1. That was awesome.

contrary to how it is talked about on apps like this, making video games is actually easy and also fun :) and if you have any interest in it, you should at least give it an honest and patient attempt. the part that is hard (nearly impossible) is making a job out of it. don't try to do that.
