A 5-year-old child should never become collateral damage in an immigration enforcement operation. “We didn’t know if the child was his” is not a justification for reckless use of force. If officers open fire with a child inside, the public deserves independent investigation and accountability.

Food waste uses almost a third of the world's agricultural land for food that is never eaten. We cut forests, use water, apply fertilizer... to grow food that rots. That's not a farming failure. That's an environmental failure.

"Historians have a word for Germans who joined the Nazi party, not because they hated Jews, but out of a hope for restored patriotism, or a sense of economic anxiety, or a hope to preserve their religious values, or dislike of their opponents, or raw political opportunism, or convenience, or ignorance, or greed. That word is "Nazi."

Nobody cares about their motives anymore. They joined what they joined. They lent their support and their moral approval. And, in so doing, they bound themselves to everything that came after.

Who cares any more what particular knot they used in the binding?"

Chris Minns says activists shouldn’t get ‘overexcited’ about ‘technical’ landmark coalmine decision
High court judgment blocking Mount Pleasant mine expansion will not affect state regulation, NSW premier says Chris Minns says activists should not get “overexcited” about a high court judgment that ruled the approval of a coalmine expansion in the New South Wales Hunter region was invalid. The premier also said the government had no plans to change NSW laws or regulations in response to the decision and that doing so would risk “jettisoning” the environmental reputation of the state’s mining industry.
