The first person to be diagnosed as autistic passed away last year at 89 years old. Please remember this if you find yourself being hypercritical of “all these people being diagnosed as autistic now”. The first documented clinical autism diagnosis was made less than 100 years ago.

For me, one aspect of being #Autistic means feeling very dysregulated if plans change last minute even though I know objectively nothing bad is happening and it will actually be fine. It’s not anxiety about the future, it’s a state of confusion and disarray because expectations are not fulfilled

I was autistic when I was a “quirky” kid who didn’t get a referral. I was autistic when I said “I can’t possibly be autistic.” I was autistic when I was evaluated and misdiagnosed. I’m autistic now. Every autistic person is autistic before they get “officially” diagnosed.
