Today in @thenation.com: Noor Alyacoubi spoke to people in Gaza about Trump's desire to expel them from their home. Their answer was very, very clear: "I will never, ever leave my land." www.thenation.com/article/worl...

Gazans Have a Message for Trump: We're Not Going Anywhere

My takeaway here on what this means for abortion care? Innovative little start ups were never the answer. Our movement is not in a place to innovate with compassion to both workers and patients without being beholden to the absurd whims of random donors. It’s all a savior complex.

A quick hit from me after the protests over the last week, despite all the claims that people were too exhausted to protest and were sitting Trump II out. It's true, much of the Trump "resistance" appeared to have gone home when Biden was elected. But plenty of people never left the fight:

The #Resistance Lives. It Just Looks Different This Time.
Defying mainstream media narratives about the exhausted opposition, protests are picking up in D.C. and across the country, led by protesters who never hung up their placards to begin with.

They're just so clearly using this stuff to attempt to purge the federal government's unions and blatantly violate their CBA's, if you're not talking about that because you think certain academics and people who post a lot are annoying to you personally I don't think you're a serious labor advocate

Federal workers got another unsigned email at 1 a.m. from a newly created OPM email, urging them to do the deferred resignation before it supposedly ends today. Feels a bit sweaty and desperate!

This story is, among many many things, about how destructive rich people's obsession with funding "innovation" over everything else is. Mobile clinics along state borders never made any sense! The places along borders that do make sense (KC & St. Louis areas, El Paso area, etc) already have clinics!

New offerings from the obviously AI-generated kids’ clothing website, many of which are allegedly also available in adult sizes????? And again I’m extremely tempted???
A screenshot of a web shop with four products. All are hyperrealistic pieces of clothing that are clearly AI-generated: 1) a rainbow colored jacket full of clouds. 2) a black dress with cutouts revealing a haunted house motif. 3) A puffy jacket with strawberries and leaves. 4) A pair of overalls with swirling colors.A screenshot of a web shop with four products. All are hyperrealistic pieces of clothing that are clearly AI-generated: 1) A collared coat with quilted multicolor daisies. 2) A light green vintage-style dress with red and white Christmas ornaments. 3) A puff-skirted dress with black Halloween silhouettes over an orange-and-gray gradient. 4) A sage green dress with orange buttons with cookie-like appliqué across the skirt.A screenshot of a web shop with four products. All are hyperrealistic pieces of clothing that are clearly AI-generated: 1) A collared cote that seems to be quilted as Van Gogh’s “Starry Night.” 2) A yellow coat made out of giant flowers. 3) A green dress with appliqué gingerbread men and a frosting-like woodland scene. 4) A plaid coat with a pink collar and large pink pockets.A product image of a hooded coat seemingly made from dozens of different-colored quilted squares. It is hyperrealistic and likely AI-generated.

I actually feel like they are all displaying different strains of a tantrum over the fact that they all were mostly let into polite society in the ways they cared about (fancy law schools, journalists, Scalia on stage at the opera with Ginsburg and such), and they feel like people changed the rules

The indictment is egregious, treating mutual aid and solidarity as pre-crime activities. Guilt by association is the point. Egregiously, it casually refers to the 2020 police execution of Rayshard Brooks as “justified” — and the indictment is from the same Fulton County that indicted Brooks’ killers

Lol not to be weird and discuss across platforms but I enjoyed this, made me think of this definition of feminism from Firestone. We have big leaps in technology in transition care, ART, both procedural and medication abortions, alongside a global birth rate that has steadily declined for decades… 👀
“For though they may have acted as a catalyst, feminism, in truth, has a cyclical momentum all its own.”
Next sentence underlined for emphasis: “In the historical interpretation we have espoused, feminism is the inevitable female response to the development of a technology capable of freeing women from the tyranny of their sexual-reproductive roles — both the fundamental biological condition itself, and the sexual class system built upon, and reinforcing, this biological condition.”
Continues: “The increasing development of science in the twentieth century should have only accelerated the initial feminist reaction to the Industrial Revolution. (Fertility control alone, for example, a problem for which the early feminists had no answer, has reached, in the period since 1920, its highest level of development in history.) The dynamics of the counter-revolution which — in conjunction with temporal crises such as war and depression — obstructed the growth of feminism I have attempted to”

Even after more than a decade of Uber, people don’t seem to get that the venture capitalists only subsidize the “disruptive” tech long enough to throw the displaced workers into permanent precarity, then they raise prices after destroying the overall market. Cab driver suicides are the strategy.
