Scientific talent is universal;access is not. Limited resources & mentorship can make scientific careers harder — something I experienced myself. Returning to my alma mater reminded me why supporting aspiring scientists matters deeply. I hope my insights helped students see what’s possible for them.

I left inspired by the energy and promise in that room, and hopeful that with the right support, these young scientists will take on the world in ways that matter. Their curiosity, resilience, and ambition are powerful.

To be clear, internship has a LOT of value. For many psychologists, it is the most important clinical year of training. That said, it does NOT need to be a pre-doctoral experience. We can't ask students to potentially put their life on the line or not earn the PhD that they've essentially completed.

On March 8, 2013 the Center for Open Science received its initial funding. Today, we give away the last of the furnishings to shut down the physical office. We are fully remote, but the org identity is so closely connected with the space. I can’t help but feel wistful about the loss of place.
