Two fantastic symposia Friday at #APSBCN! First at 4:00 is a symposium on reconceptualizing comorbidity, w/ @olinotom.bsky.social, @shirleybwang.bsky.social, and @ashleylwatts.bsky.social. I'll be presenting on my recent work using set theory, w/ a hot off the press extension to the HiTOP model.
Advancing Understanding of Comorbidity: From Epidemiology to Modeling: Comorbidity is described as ubiquitous in psychopathology studies. This statement largely comes from epidemiological cohort studies relying on lifetime rates of disorders. The presentations in this symposium challenges common notions of comorbidity using innovative models of disorder covariation, refined epidemiological data, logical definitions of symptom criteria, and formal mathematical modeling.
